Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl

📚 Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team – Hope-Hill Elementary School

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl (HRRB) is a statewide reading competition designed to foster a love of reading, critical thinking, teamwork, and academic excellence.  Our fourth- and fifth-grade students are selected for the HRRB team to read a collection of award-winning Georgia Children’s Book Award nominees and compete in a quiz-style competition that challenges their comprehension, recall, and collaboration skills.

At Hope-Hill Elementary, HRRB members:

  • Read multiple high-quality, award-nominated books.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and practice sessions.
  • Strengthen reading stamina, vocabulary, and comprehension.
  • Develop sportsmanship, leadership, and confidence.
  • Represent Hope-Hill at the cluster-level and with hopes of moving to the district-level bowl competition.

This exciting opportunity allows students to grow as readers and leaders while celebrating the joy of books!

If you are interested in learning more or supporting the HRRB program, don't hesitate to get in touch with our Gifted Teacher, Mrs. Curtis, or our third-grade teacher, Ms. Stone, or Media Specialist, Mrs. Fowler, in the Hope-Hill Media Center.
